My name is Caleb Mercer.

What Youth Ventures site are you based out of?  

I am based out of CBDC Cabot, in Paradise. 

What are some of your favorite hobbies? 

My favorite hobbies include working on my car, reading, and writing. 

What’s your favorite movie? 

My favorite movie right now is Roadhouse.

What is your favourite band/artist?

Zach Bryan 

What is your favourite restaurant?

My favorite restaurant would be the Keg, some great memories that I hold near! 

Do you have any pets? 

I have a Cat Luna, a Dog Scooby, and a Bearded Dragon named Simon! 

Fun fact about you? 

Fun fact about me is I know how to cook really well. 

What does entrepreneurship mean to you? 

Entrepreneurship to me, is not just an individual operating their own business, it is acting on their lifelong passions, aspirations, and goals, embracing the challenges being thrown at them, and making their dream your reality; that’s why I’m so big on entrepreneurship, we only live once, so why not live your dream?  

What is the coolest business you have heard of? 

The coolest business I have ever heard of would be the baked goods-vending machine at the Village Mall!  

What are you looking forward to most this summer? 

This summer, I am looking most forward to igniting the growth of entrepreneurship in my region, and to be able to help people bring their ideas and passions into a venture that will make the community that much more of a community. 

What are some interesting business opportunities you see for young entrepreneurs in your region? 

In my region, I see some key opportunities for snack vendors, as well as tourism/community products! With all the festivals and great events that are to come as well as Newfoundland’s amazing tourism, there are some great opportunities for running such a business in this region! 

What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures? 

They need to know that we’re here to them succeed in what they want to do! 

What is a piece of advice you have for people of any age who are considering starting a business? 

Stop waiting, there is no better time than now!
