Meet Your Coordinator

Meet Your Coordinator: Justin Coish – Centre of Economic Development

Meet Your Coordinator is a series where we interview your Youth Ventures coordinators so that you can get to know them. We are back again for the 2018 Youth Ventures season, and today we have Justin Coish at Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development in Deer Lake.

What’s your name?

Justin Coish

What Youth Ventures site are you based out of?

Humber Valley/White Bay Region

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

Soccer, Hockey, Golf, Hanging with friends.

What’s your favourite movie?

Step Brothers, Miracle, Concussion.

What is your favourite band?

Beartooth. I’m also a huge country fan. Luke Combs and Chris Stapleton are my go to driving tunes.

What is your favourite restaurant?

Pizza Delight for sure in Deer Lake. I’m also always game to eat at Wendys or Burger King. I also love East Side Marios. Shout out to Starbucks as well.

Do you have any pets?

I have a pet dove!

What does entrepreneurship mean to you?

Entrepreneurship to me means chasing your dreams. Risking more than the average person to pursue something you believe will be successful. It means putting yourself out there for an idea that you are passionate about.

What is the coolest business you heard of?

This is my fourth year as a YV coordinator and in that time I’ve seen a lot of cool ideas! I think my favourite over the years would be A&K Candy Boutique

What are you looking forward to most this summer?

Just meeting new people! Having new ideas come into the program and helping more youth start successful businesses!

What are some interesting business opportunities you see in your region?

I would love to have a person create crafts or paintings for sale at the local festivals here in the Deer Lake area! I feel like that would be a great opportunity for someone!

What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures?

People should know that the coordinators are here to help with anything! Every idea can be worked into something that would work. People shouldn’t worry if their idea is a good one. The coordinators are there to help work these problems out!

What is the most important thing people of any age who want to start a business need to know?

The best thing I can say about this is to have faith. Believe in yourself and work hard. If you do this it will work. It won’t be easy and it’s not for everyone but you can do it if you really try.

How can people get in touch with you if they’d like to talk about starting a business?

Anyone looking to start a business or to talk about the program can reach me by telephone at (709)635-3861. I can also be reached by email at grandlake@youthventuresnl.com or by stopping by my office at the Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development, 44 Trans Canada Highway in Deer Lake.
