What is your name? 

My name is Mandy Clarke.  

What Youth Ventures site are you based out of?  

Southern Labrador/Strait of Belle Isle (L’Anse Au Clair-Cartwright)  

What are some of your favorite hobbies?  

My favorite hobbies are creating wooden signs and designing products on materials.  

What’s your favorite movie?  

My favorite movie would have to be Dirty Dancing 🙂 

What is your favorite band/artist?  

I love listening to anything country 🙂 

What is your favorite restaurant?  

I don’t really have a favorite restaurant; I enjoy eating at local food spots! 

Do you have any pets?  

Yes, I have two pets, a dog named Roxy & a Beardon Dragon named Blaze. 

What is a fun fact about you?  

I am mom to three boys😊 11, 9 & 3!  

What’s one local business you admire? Why do you admire it? 

One local business that i admire is Layla’s Seal Skin. I admire her because she is a Youth Ventures participant, and she does such an amazing job with her work.  

What does entrepreneurship mean to you?   

Entrepreneurship to me means taking risks, having passion, being creative and enjoying the rewards. 

What are you looking forward to most this summer?  

I am looking forward to another fun-filled summer working with the previous Youth venture participants and all the Youth in my region all while promoting the businesses created.  

What are some interesting business opportunities you see in your region?  

A few interesting business opportunities within our region are car washing, babysitting, dog walking, home-made cookies, home-made ice-cream & crafting using sealskin. 

What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures?  

Youth in NL need to know that Youth Ventures provides counselling in helping create a business. It also helps promote and advertise your business.  

What is a piece of advice you have for people of any age who are considering starting a business? 

One piece of advice is to do what makes you happy and you enjoy doing it. Be open to new adventures and ideas. Set goals for yourself to exceed and don’t be afraid to ask for help!
