Meet Your Coordinator: Rebecca MacArthur – Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development

Meet Your Coordinator is a series where we interview your Youth Ventures coordinators so that you can get to know them. We are back again for the 2019 Youth Ventures season, and today we have Rebecca at Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development in Deer Lake.

What’s your name?

Rebecca MacArthur

What Youth Ventures site are you based out of?

I am located in the Grand Lake Centre of Economic Development for the Humber Valley/White Bay Region

What are some of your favourite hobbies?

Reading, swimming

What’s your favourite movie?

A dog’s Purpose 

What is your favourite band?

I am a huge country fan, Blake Shelton & Luke Bryan are both favourites.

What is your favourite restaurant?

Jungle Jims

Do you have any pets?

I have a Cat, Thor. 

What does entrepreneurship mean to you?

Entrepreneurship to me means chasing your dreams and making them a reality. Doing anything possible to create a business that you love.  

What is the coolest business you heard of?

There has been a lot of cool business through youth ventures but one that has stuck out to me since hearing about it would have to be Logan’s Bergy Bits.

What are you looking forward to most this summer?

Just meeting new people! Helping youth start successful businesses, and seeing all of the ideas come into the program. 

What are some interesting business opportunities you see in your region?

I would love to have a person create some fun games for younger children for local festivals. Also, I would like someone do to babysitting. 

What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures?

People shouldn’t worry if their idea is a good one. Just about any idea can be made into something that will work. The coordinators are there to help work these problems out!

What is the most important thing people of any age who want to start a business need to know?

Believe in yourself and work hard. It won’t be easy and it’s not for everyone but you can do it if you really try.
