What is a fun fact about you?

I was born with the spirit of an entrepreneur. I grew up on a farm with limited financial resources, so finding ways to make extra money was important to my family. From providing services like babysitting or animal care, cleaning, or yardwork, to creating products like candy bouquets, engravings, and art work to sell, I feel like I’ve done it all. Entrepreneurship has always been a natural option for me and I’m so excited to help youth develop their ideas and skills to build their businesses.

What does entrepreneurship mean to you?

Entrepreneurship is such a unique and flexible option to earn an income. With the right plan and support, you can turn just about any passion into a successful business that fits into the life you want to have.

What is the coolest business you heard of?

The Youth Ventures business that I was most interested by was ‘The Pupcakery’. I loved how organically their business started as a result of their own dog having allergies and their dedication for finding treats they could eat. You can really feel the joy that they feel in their story about turning passion into profit.

What are you looking forward to most this summer?

I’m so excited to work with young people and watch their ideas grow!

What are some interesting business opportunities you see in your region?

There have been so many new developments in my neighborhood that it’s hard to choose! Places like Urban Market has made buying form local artisans easier and new businesses have really catered to changing needs. I love that I can get just about any product, from candles, soap, or jewelry to bread, cookies, and snacks made by local artisans, delivered right, to my door now!

What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures?

Youth Ventures can offer support and guidance for you to develop your skills and business, regardless of your current skills, or even if you have an idea for your venture. Youth Ventures will start where you are in your entrepreneurship journey, and walk with you each step of the way. All you need is an interest in turning your passion into profit.

What is a piece of advice you have for people of any age who are considering starting a business?

Believe in yourself and your idea first. It’s so much easier to build success if you believe it will happen.
