Meet Your Coordinator is a series where we interview your Youth Ventures coordinators so that you can get to know them. We are back again for the 2019 Youth Ventures season, and today we have Vanessa Strugnell in South Eastern Labrador.

What Youth Ventures site are you based out of?
I live in Port Hope Simpson however my region is Lodge Bay- Cartwright… yay for southeastern Labrador!!
What are some of your favourite hobbies?
Boating, Ski Dooing, Fishing, Crocheting…
What’s your favourite movie?
Anything comedy… Melissa McCarthy’s movies are so funny!
What is your favourite band?
Anything country or dance… I particularly like Train
What is your favourite restaurant?
Do you have any pets?
Yes! I have a beautiful white “Pyraneese” puppy- she’s almost 2 😊
What does entrepreneurship mean to you?
Owning your own business!! Find something you love or have a passion for and bring it to life!! Love when a young person can take their hobby & make money with it!!
What is the coolest business you heard of?
Oh my, I’m not sure, there are so many of them, each so unique & I love each of them the same 😊
What are you looking forward to most this summer?
To see our existing businesses expand with new & exciting products, I’m also excited to help new participants/ businesses get set up, as well as attend all possible events/ festivals.
What are some interesting business opportunities you see in your region?
Anything that portrays our culture/ heritage, car wash, berry picker, scenic photography, ice berg sales, etc.
What do youth in NL need to know about Youth Ventures?
It’s an exciting program to be involved in, that we as Coordinators are here for them & will help them with their business in any way we can 😊
What is the most important thing people of any age who want to start a business need to know? Don’t be afraid to take risks, research places that are out there to help offset costs, research its viability, etc.
