Here’s Ally’s story…
In the Beginning
Ally has been making clay charms since she was 10 years old! During Covid 19 lockdowns, she began working with clay again and reignited her passion for the craft. Ally now designs and handcrafts earrings to share her polymer clay charms with others!
Why Entrepreneurship?
Ally chose to start her business, Clay by Ally, as a way to share her creative energy. She loves being her own boss, and not just because she can set her own flexible work schedule; Ally finds satisfaction in setting goals and dedicating her time and effort into her work!
Ally told us: “I made some difficult decisions to allow for dedicating time into my business, but it has paid off many times over.”
Making it Happen with Youth Ventures
Youth Ventures welcomed Ally and her business in 2021. She recalls that Youth Ventures helped her promote her products on social media and guided her through the operation and marketing of Clay by Ally.
She shares that, “being awarded the Excellence in Marketing Award in the 2021 Youth Ventures Awards has been my biggest success. It is such a good feeling to be recognised for a passion of mine and to know that my hard work has paid off.”
What’s Next
The next big goal Ally has for Clay by Ally is to sustain her business as a source of income while she attends Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, so she can continue to enjoy her business as a secondary source of income throughout her career!
Moment of Reflection
For young entrepreneurs like herself, Ally has this advice: “Investing in yourself while you’re young is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Being committed to your business will pay off in so many ways and pave the path to a successful future. Take the leap!”
