Here is Preston’s story…
In the Beginning
In July 2023, a determined young entrepreneur named Preston Clarke joined the Youth Ventures program at CBDC Celtic, embarking on a journey to turn his dreams into reality. His business, known as “Precision Ground Care,” specializes in comprehensive ground maintenance services, offering everything from chemical and fertilizer treatments to regular lawn mowing in Petty Harbour- Maddox Cove and surrounding areas.
Why Entrepreneurship?
Preston’s journey into entrepreneurship started in 2021 when he began mowing lawns to earn some extra income. He began with six lawns a week, and by 2022, this had expanded to 14 lawns weekly. Recognizing the growth of his enterprise, in 2023, Preston decided to officially establish Precision Ground Care. This move allowed him to secure the equipment and tools needed to successfully manage and grow his business.
Making it Happen with Youth Ventures
With the support of his local CBDC and Youth Ventures, he secured a loan to acquire commercial-grade equipment, enabling him to better serve his growing customer base.
What’s Next
Preston has both short-term and long-term aspirations for Precision Ground Care. In the short term, he aims to expand his commercial clientele. Looking to the future, his long-term dream is to become the largest lawn care business in the province. Looking ahead, Precision Ground Care plans to introduce chemical and fertilizer treatments to their services in the coming year. Additionally, Preston intends to offer seasonal packages, providing customers with discounted rates over weekly and bi-weekly services.
Moment of Reflection
While reflecting on his journey, Preston’s greatest success lies in his newfound skills for conducting business and negotiating with clients. For future entrepreneurs, he offers these words of advice: Don’t delay in pursuing your dreams, don’t be afraid to seek help when starting out, and above all, believe in yourself.
